During the time of last summer’s heat, instead of hitting the swimming pool we took a trip to Libčice nad Vltavou nearby Prague. We had two exciting meetings arranged at the former bolt factory site – at the LUGI factory and at the DEVOTO workshop.

The two companies share not only the same place but also their mission: to produce high-quality wooden furniture with value. We enjoyed the gripping tour through the LUGI factory with Michal Peřina, the company owner, and had a pleasant chat with Lukáš Lédl at the nearby DEVOTO workshop, a company that produces furniture for children, which Lukáš founded with his friend.

During our visit in Libčice we noticed that a significant part of the site had been changing, therefore it was worthy to visit the adjacent building, warehouse, and other shop floors, that were currently under renovation or just about to be. From there we, totally starved, set off to our favourite pub U Lasíků in Únětice.

The original (very ambitious) plan was to cover the whole region of South Moravia. However, in Brno, there are so many interesting places that we decided to stay there for the whole weekend. Our next MINI tips are thus from Brno. We paid particular attention to Villa Tugendhat where we spent some time in the gardens after a spoken guide tour. We will never get enough of this functionalist beauty.

Before our trip our friends from Brno gave us a long list of cafés to visit - cafés founded in the last two years. We chose to cover three of them for you – SKØG Urban Hub, Industra Coffee and Šestá větev. We enjoyed their environment, pleasant service and mainly the great coffee. In Industra Coffee, we even satisfied our cravings for ice cream, surprisingly, thanks to Nanuky Praha (Lollies Prague).

In the late afternoon, we set off to Kraví hora, swam in the pool with an amazing overview of the city and walked through the local villa quarter. We admired every house! On the last day we visited Pokojík – a small pop-up store on the Smetanova Street, packed with beautiful pieces we would love to get for our home.

When it came to the idea of MINI trips outside of the city of Prague, we had long decided that our first destination would be the Liberec region of which we have many nice memories and we’re always glad to visit. This might be purely because Liberec and Prague are not too far away and it takes only two hours by car.

The first stop of our May trip was the Ještěd broadcasting tower. This was our accommodation (as it was many times before) and we officially called it our ‘cosmic home’. Then we visited the Regional Art Gallery in Liberec, which was established from the former city spa. We also couldn’t miss the Prezidentská chata (hotel, restaurant) in nearby Bedřichov, which is located on our favourite cross-country skiing route and is also one of our preferred summer destinations.

These three destinations create a perfect mix for a weekend stay – panerai replica hotel accommodation in the skies with the atmosphere of the 1970s, fine arts in the nice architectonical building of the Regional Art Gallery in Liberec, and honest Czech food in the stylish mountain restaurant.
